Green Tea Cake
I do sometime like to bake. When I was in a Japanese supermarket and I come across a packet of green tea powder and decide that I should make a cake using this powder. When I reached home and found time to bake. I gathered whatever I had in my pantry and just randomly came out with this cake. I was glad that it came out really well. I shared this cake with the rest of family and friends and told that I should with all my friends. Here is my so called Green Tea Cake.
Required – 9″ Round Cake Pan
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour plus 2 tablespoons for dusting
1/2 oz Green Tea powder
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 large eggs
1/4 pound raw sugar
6 tablespoons salted butter, melted
Extra butter for greasing the pan
Icing sugar for garnish
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease the baking pan with butter and dust with some flour.
In a mixing bowl sift the flour, baking powder and green tea powder together and set aside.
Whisk the eggs and raw sugar in a mixing bowl until light and smooth. Add the sifted flour gently in small amount and fold in gently using a spatula. Fold the cake mixture over from the bottom once or twice and do not mix the cake mixture too hard. Slowly fold in the melted butter.
Pour the cake mixture into the greased round pan and smooth the top flat. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool the cake on the wire rack. Sprinkle some icing sugar (see picture) on top of the green tea cake.
