I love making my own sauces for the holiday season unless I forget to buy my fresh cranberries. My family and relatives all love homemade fresh cranberry sauce. I always love my cranberry sauce to have different flavors in them for each holiday season. I normally flavored with orange, raspberry, blueberry and pineapple. You should try different berries or citrus fruits to give an extra sweetness and flavor.
3 (12oz) packages fresh cranberry
2 orange zests
3 cups packed dark brown sugar
2 3”long cinnamon sticks
3 cups fresh orange juice
Heat a medium sauce pan with fresh cranberries, orange juice, dark brown sugar, orange zests and cinnamon sticks over medium-high heat. Add water just enough to cover the fruits and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 1-1½ hours or until the fruit mixture has thickened. Adjust the sweetness according to your preference sweetness. Also continue cooking until your preference of consistency.
Heat off and cool down cranberry mixture completely. Discard the cinnamon stick. Transfer to a dish with cover and remove to the refrigerator to chill until ready to serve.
